ABOUT
Join the ‘Baalpan ki Kavita’ Initiative: Restoring Bharatiya Rhymes/Poems for Young Children
As per NEP para 4.11, it is well understood that young children learn and grasp nontrivial concepts more quickly in their home language/mother tongue. Home language is usually the same language as the mother tongue or that which is spoken by local communities. Currently, preschool and early primary children of the foundational stage in the country grow up learning and singing rhymes/poems in English which are often disconnected from their culture and surroundings. The ‘Baalpan ki Kavita’ initiative seeks to restore and popularise traditional and newly composed rhymes/poems in Hindi, regional languages and English. This will enhance play and activity based approach for learning.
The Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education, in collaboration with MyGov, is pleased to invite you to contribute to the ‘Baalpan ki Kavita’initiative, which aims to promote the creation, collection and dissemination of Bharatiya rhymes/poems for early years/foundational stage education. We invite individuals to submit written poems that can become a part of the foundational learning. The rhymes/poems can be originally written, popular in local culture or folk lore or written by someone else. Your contributions will improve educational resources for Foundational Stage and stimulate a love for Indian languages among young children.
